Fear doesn’t just hold us back, it keeps us from stepping into the life of impact we were created for.
Fear to Freedom

Naming Fear
Fear looks different for everyone.
For some, it’s staring at a blank bank account.
For others, it’s waking up at 2am wondering if they’re enough.
For me, it used to be the quiet question:
“What if I’m working this hard and it never adds up?”
Fear doesn’t always shout.
Most of the time, it whispers.
And if you’re not careful, it shapes every decision.
The journey from fear to freedom doesn’t start with a financial strategy.
It starts with naming what’s holding you back.
→ Fear of failure
→ Fear of rejection
→ Fear of missing out
→ Fear of not being enough
When you name it, you take away some of its power.
And when you take away its power, you open the door to freedom.
One exercise that’s helped me: a simple two-column notebook practice.
On the left, I write the fear or lie I’m believing.
On the right, I write the truth of God’s Word.
Example:
Fear/Lie → “What if I’m working this hard and it never adds up?”
Truth → “Some plant, some water, but only God causes the growth.” (Acts 18:9)
It reminds me my faithfulness is enough—God is the one who brings the increase.
That’s the journey this series is about.
Moving from the silent grip of fear into the steady confidence of freedom.

Counting the Cost
Fear says “it’s all on you.”
Truth says “God gives the growth.”
The fear that haunted me most started with seven words:
What if it never adds up?
That was the fear I wrote in my notebook.
On the left side of the page, I listed the lie.
On the right side, I wrote the truth.
Fear: What if all my work amounts to nothing?
Truth: So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. (1 Corinthians 3:7)
The lie says my freedom depends on my hustle.
The truth says my freedom depends on my faith.
That shift changes everything in my faith, family, and finances.
→ It’s the reason I no longer measure success only in hours worked
→ It’s the reason I invest to create margin so I can be present at home
→ It’s the reason I pursue financial freedom to live generously
→ It’s the reason I remind myself daily my role is to be faithful, not fearful
Fear keeps us anxious.
Truth sets us free.

Choosing Trust
Faith doesn’t erase risk.
It reframes it.
The scariest decision was letting go.
The best one too.
Fear told me to hold tighter.
To control every outcome.
But freedom came when I chose trust.
→ In my faith: I stopped striving and rested in His promises
→ In my family: I could be present without guilt
→ In my finances: I started planting seeds instead of chasing stuff
My first duplex wasn’t glamorous.
Neither was my first $50,000 syndication.
But those deposits became the foundation for legacy.
Because one $50,000 investment, compounded every five years, can grow into over $3 million in thirty years.
Not so I can buy more things.
So I can build margin, impact, and Kingdom legacy.
That’s the freedom that comes from choosing trust.
Faithful steps today that multiply tomorrow.

Redefining Freedom
Fear adds. Freedom multiplies.
That is the difference.
Fear makes you cling to every dollar.
Freedom teaches you to steward every dollar.
When I first started investing, the goal was simple: survival.
Cover bills. Build a cushion. Breathe easier.
But as freedom grew, so did the vision.
Each dollar became more than income.
It became seed.
→ Seed that produces cash flow
→ Cash flow that funds mission
→ Mission that multiplies impact
That is the power of financial freedom.
It compounds beyond your life and into legacy.
The real reward is not the balance sheet.
It is what that balance releases:
presence with family, margin for ministry, and resources that outlive you.
One framework that reshaped my financial journey came from Trashman to Cashman:
→ 50% Living Expenses
→ 10% Giving
→ 10% Investing
→ 10% Personal Development
→ 10% Fun
→ 10% Memories
When you give every dollar an assignment, you trade fear for clarity and clarity creates freedom.
Do you currently give every dollar an assignment, yes or no?

Multiplication
What if freedom isn’t about how much you make, but how you spend your minutes?
I thought freedom was a number.
Turns out it was a calendar.
For years, I chased stability.
“If only I was financially free, then I’d finally…
→ feel peace
→ be happier
→ be present with my family”
But every time I hit a goal, the bar moved.
The peace I wanted never showed up in the account balance.
Here’s what I learned:
→ Freedom isn’t about a net worth target.
→ It’s about margin.
→ It’s about presence.
→ It’s about building a life you don’t need to escape.
The real ROI wasn’t in dollars.
It was in dinners around the table.
Games in the backyard.
Date nights with Katie.
Yes, I still invest.
Yes, I still plant seeds that grow into bigger opportunities.
But I measure success differently now.
Not by the size of the account.
But by the size of the moments that matter.
Because true freedom isn’t just measured in money.
It’s measured in minutes.

Thank You
I’m grateful you’ve taken the time to be here. My hope is that this series helps you move closer to living with margin, presence, and Kingdom impact.
Remember: freedom isn’t just about what you earn—it’s about how you steward what God has already placed in your hands.
Thank you for trusting me to walk alongside you in this journey from fear to freedom.
